Jacques Rougeau, best known to 90s wrestling fans as The Mountie, entered the business in 1977 and remained a prominent performer for over two decades. However, he has now revealed during an interview with CTVNews.ca that he is currently $70,000 in debt, having neglected his businesses due to his wife Nathalie’s battle with cancer. Thankfully, his wife of 46 years is in remission, although Rougeau acknowledges that he was arrogant for thinking the money would continue to come in.
65-year-old Rougeau made his name initially as part of the tag team The Fabulous Rougeaus with his brother Raymond Rougeau and would have a spell as a singles wrestler, having been given The Mountie gimmick by Vince McMahon. This would see him win the Intercontinental Championship and work with names such as Bret Hart, The Big Bossman, and Roddy Piper. However, he would subsequently return to tag team wrestling, teaming with Pierre Ouellet as The Quebecers in WWE and as The Amazing French Canadians in WCW.
