In concerning news, it has been reported by Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers that Ahmed Johnson was involved in a serious car accident earlier this week. Precisely what happened wasn’t shared, but apparently, the former WWE and WCW talent was hit by a drunk driver, which, based on the accompanying photo, caused a great deal of damage. Thankfully, 62-year-old Johnson appears to be okay, having said, “When you have the Lord on your side, nothing can harm you.”
Johnson, whose real name is Tony Norris, broke into the business in 1989 and, after spending time on the independent circuit and in Japan, joined WWE in 1995. Almost immediately, he was treated as a big deal, with fans taking notice after he slammed Yokozuna. However, despite becoming the first African American Intercontinental Champion, he never became a legitimate main eventer due to injuries, family issues, and having developed a reputation for hurting his opponents.
