Former WWE Attitude Era Star Wrestles Dark Match For AEW (w/Video)

Before this week’s episode of Dynamite, an unexpected name made their AEW debut with Scott Garland, better known as Scotty 2 Hotty, teaming up with The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn against The Gunns, Matt Menard, and Jake Hager in an eight-man tag team match. It’s unknown why it was decided that now was a good time for Garland to wrestle for AEW, but since July, he has been working part-time for the promotion in a backstage role and is expected to become full-time next year.

50-year-old Garland came to fame in the late 90s as part of the tag team Too Cool with Brian Christopher after several years of working as an enhancement talent for WWE. The pair would have a hip-hop parody gimmick and got over with fans thanks to their dancing and flamboyance. Then, when Christopher was let go, he would instead team with Rikishi before becoming a singles performer up until his release in 2007. After that, he worked on the indies before training to become a firefighter in 2013. However, a few years later, he returned to the wrestling industry, coaching new WWE recruits at the Performace Center.
