Last month, WWE released Karl Fredericks, who wrestled on NXT under the name Eddy Thorpe. This caught many fans off guard at the time, as he had been working with names like Trick Williams and Oba Femi on the developmental brand and, therefore, looked destined for the main roster. However, he has now revealed to his followers on X that he actually requested his release “so I could do something f*cking meaningful with my life.“
34-year-old Fredericks first began wrestling on the Californian indie scene in 2015 and, in 2018, decided to take the next step in his career by joining New Japan’s LA dojo. Subsequently, he would become a regular for the Japanese promotion, working for them in both Japan and America. Still, once his contract expired in August 2022, he either opted not to renew or New Japan passed depending on who is telling the story, and instead he signed with WWE, making his NXT debut in February 2023.
