Last week, it was reported that independent wrestler Jaka had suffered a heart attack, and a GoFundMe was soon launched to assist with his medical bills. Subsequently, names including Tony Khan, Jack Perry, MJF, and Ruby Soho would generously donate to help the much-loved wrestler in his time of need. However, it has sadly been announced by Beyond Wrestling on X that despite receiving medical treatment, Jaka has passed away, aged just 39.
Jaka, real name is Jonathan Echevarria, began his pro wrestling career in 2007 and has since worked for various promotions, including CZW, GCW, CHIKARA, and EVOLVE. Additionally, he wrestled one-off matches for WWE and AEW, and while a major promotion never signed him, he did share the ring with established names, including MJF, Matt Riddle, Orange Cassidy, JC Mateo, Eddie Kingston, and Gunther, during his career.
