Edge Reveals When He Intends To Retire Following Raw (w/Video)

Edge’s WWE career was cut short in 2011 due to cervical spinal stenosis, with it feared he could be paralyzed or even die if he continued wrestling. Yet, after almost a decade away from the ring, a combination of rest, rehab, and advances in medical knowledge allowed him to return at the 2020 Royal Rumble for one of the most amazing moments in WWE history. Now though, it appears that Edge is planning to step away again, although on his own terms this time.

The WWE Hall of Famer would reveal this following Monday night’s Raw in Toronto when he told those in attendance that as WWE comes to the town most Augusts, he plans on saying goodbye to them next year. Acknowledging that in a perfect world, it would be where he’d like to end his career, given that’s where it began in 1992. A fan-filmed video of this can be watched below.

It’s believed Edge signed a three-year deal with WWE in January 2020, which should mean his contract expires in January 2023. However, as he suffered a torn triceps that sidelined him for seven months, August would be when his deal expires if WWE added the time on. Which, based on his comments, is what is happening. Of course, the big thing will now be what WWE does to send off into the sunset, but a pay-per-view in Toronto with him headlining certainly seems appropriate.
