Pop star Ed Sheeran and Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth have previously teased working on music together. Now it appears that collaboration is moving forward as Filth recently shared a photo of he and Sheeran having lunch together after “having just done something fun.”

Producer Scott Atkins is also in the photo, and it seems as if the group just wrapped up a studio session before grabbing a bite to eat. Atkins runs Grindstone Studios and has previously engineered, produced, mixed and mastered Cradle of Filth recordings. He’s also done albums by Game Bomb, Venom Prison, Skylosis, Vader and more.

“A little over a week ago I was having lunch with unlikely lads, having just done something fun,” writes Filth, followed be five metal horns hand gesture emojis.

Sheeran previously revealed he wasn’t opposed to doing a death metal project. “I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff,” the singer-songwriter said, according to the Sun. “I’m not saying I could ever step into that world.”

“That’s something I’ve never thought about doing – but something I would not be opposed to creating,” he added.

Filth also chimed in at the time sharing a screenshot of an article with the headline: “Ed Sheeran is open to recording a death metal album after spending his youth listening to Cradle of Filth,” and Filth wrote, “I’ll believe it when I see it. Fellow Suffolk lad could come good in the end. ‘Dracula’s Castle On The Hill’ anyone?” followed by a collection of Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran tags.
