When AEW first launched, some speculated that Vince McMahon was secretly behind the promotion, much like his involvement in ECW. Obviously, this was far-fetched, but the rumor would circulate for a few years. And now, with conspiracy theorists having finally accepted that the disgraced billionaire isn’t in partnership with Tony Khan, it’s now been suggested by ECW original Stevie Richards, who worked for McMahon from 1999 to 2008, that everyone would benefit from his former boss becoming an on-air character for AEW.
It has been known for some time that McMahon intended to launch a new business, and it was recently discovered that he had registered multiple companies in Connecticut based around the name “14TH & I.” Subsequently, it was reported that the 79-year-old had sought to return to promoting, having attempted to purchase a controlling interest in BKFC, which David Feldman and Conor McGregor currently own. However, no deal could be agreed on, as Feldman was not willing to give up the level of control that McMahon wanted.
