Sabu is a pro wrestling legend to many fans, having taken hardcore wrestling mainstream thanks to his runs in FMW and ECW, which inspired countless other talents. However, the wrestling world is now in mourning after PWInsider.com reported that just a few weeks after he wrestled his retirement match against Joey Janela at GCW’s Spring Break 9 in Las Vegas, he has died. As of writing, no cause of death has been confirmed for the 60-year-old, although he has long battled drug and alcohol addiction.
Sabu was one of the most innovative wrestlers of the 1990s, and for a few years, people debated whether he was the best performer in the world. Despite this fame, he never made big money, and sadly, his wrestling style destroyed his body. This resulted in him undergoing hip surgery in 2017, which was funded by a GoFundMe campaign and limited what he could do in the ring and in everyday life during his later years.
