Sting got to go out on his own terms at Revolution, thanks to Tony Khan and AEW. Yet he is, unfortunately, the exception as many careers simply fade away or abruptly end. And now, during an interview that took place shortly before Sting’s final match at Revolution, his tag team partner Darby Allin has caused controversy online after seemingly taking a shot at Kurt Angle for how he let WWE dictate his retirement at WrestleMania 35.
“The fact that you have to tuck your tail between your legs, and be a nice little good boy, and get a paycheck, and wrestle somebody that you have no desire to wrestle. We’re talking about your career, your life’s work; it’s baffling to me that people are such little b*tches.”
Darby AllinBack in 2019, Kurt Angle knew his career was coming to an end and would advise Vince McMahon he needed to retire sooner rather than later. However, while Angle was hoping to wrestle John Cena in a high-profile WrestleMania match, McMahon insisted he wrapped his career up against Baron Corbin because they had been working on a program together. Subsequently, Angle’s in-ring swansong failed to meet expectations, and to this day, some fans still hold out hope he’ll compete again in order to get an appropriate sendoff.
