Corey Taylor Reveals Slipknot Song He Is Sick Of

Earlier this year, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor revealed details on his forthcoming solo album, “CMFT2.”

Taylor is working with producer Jay Ruston, whose credits include Steel Panther and Anthrax. The album marks the follow-up to 2020’s “CMFT,” and Taylor provided an update on the record via social media.

“I’m really, really excited. I mean, everything’s just bigger this time, man,” Taylor said in a video.

“Everything sounds better; everything’s running better; everything’s running hot. Instead of where I came from, this is where I’m going. Musically, it’s harder, it’s faster, but there’s still tons of stuff from the first album.”

Taylor will release the album via BMG sometime later this year. “I wanted to work with BMG because they came in super hot wanting to work with me, and they’ve been keeping the fires burning for rock, punk and metal over the last few years,” he told Billboard

Taylor also recently told the All Things Music podcast that there’s a Slipknot song he is tired of performing.

“I’m going on record here,” Taylor said. “I’m not the one who vetoes these things. I vetoed one song for a half a tour – you’re going to laugh – ‘Wait And Bleed’ because I was f*cking tired of playing it. I was like, ‘can we do one run where we don’t play it?'”

“We got a 4K (four stars out of five) review from headlining Download specifically because we didn’t play ‘Wait And Bleed’. I was like, ‘are you f*cking kidding me?’ I was so mad. I purposefully was like ‘I don’t f*cking want to play this song ever again.’ Well guess what? I’m the a*shole. We did it.”

Not only is “Wait And Bleed” back in the Slipknot setlist, Taylor also performs it at his solo shows.

“It’s in my f*cking solo set now. So there you go,” he said, “I can’t escape it. People love that song. It’s not a bad song. It’s just old, man. And I, like everybody else who makes music, I love the fact that we have legacy stuff. But man, I f*cking played that [forever].”

Taylor also revealed a song that Slipknot will never play live, even though the singer has said he wants to open future shows with it — “Gematria (The Killing Name)” off of 2008’s All Hope Is Gone.

“There are certain odiums around the way that song was created and recorded, which is why some of the guys in the band are like ‘f*ck that, we’ll never play it. It isn’t even sentimental. It’s resentment. But for me man, it’s such a f*cking burner that I just love that song. But it’ll never happen.”
