Controversial Former WWE Writer Says Cody Rhodes Needs To “Get Therapy”

Cody Rhodes has never been afraid to show emotion, and this was recently on display when he gave a tearful promo on Raw in which he stated that while he can’t give the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to his late father, Dusty Rhodes, he can still give it to his mother. Subsequently, this promo was highly commended by many on social media due to coming across as genuine. However, it turns out at least one person wasn’t impressed, as former WWE writer Vince Russo would say Rhodes needs to “get therapy” during his recent appearance on Busted Open.

“Cody, get therapy, man. Every freaking week, this guy is going out, cutting promos, he can’t get through a promo without crying. Casual wrestling fans, we don’t want to see wrestlers cry, bro. We want to see men’s men, we want to see wrestlers, we want to see testosterone, bro. We don’t want to see namby-pamby crybabies.”

Vince Russo

While Russo is obviously entitled to his opinion, Rhodes seems to know exactly what he is doing because, due to fan support, he will be appearing in both of WrestleMania 40’s main events. And while it is far from confirmed that the second-generation star will finally get to finish his story, he is undoubtedly WWE’s number one active babyface, which is down to his ability to connect with viewers.
