In February 2023, it was reported that Colby Corino, the son of ECW’ Original’s Steve Corino, had signed with WWE. However, it has since come out that it wasn’t wholly accurate, and WWE actually retracted their offer. And now, while speaking to Wrestling Friends, Corino has revealed the issue stems from his background check, which uncovered something from several years ago that needed handling.
I get told there was a problem with my background check, and there was something from seven years ago and that I needed to handle that, and after that, I’d be good.
Colby Corino26-year-old Corino has vast experience, having signed with ROH back in 2014 and since then worked for TNA and WWE as an independent contractor. Nevertheless, his career has stalled due to a criminal past, as he has been arrested for illegal possession of a controlled substance as well as petty theft and shoplifting. And considering these occurred in the timeframe he mentions, it is possible that these were unearthed during his background check.
