Booker T Comments On Potentially Coming Out Of Retirement

Booker T found out shortly before the 2023 Royal Rumble that he would be taking Rey Mysterio’s spot, and thankfully, due to being a consummate professional, he had his ring gear with him. However, after the match, he announced he would be hanging up his boots, as the 40-yard walk to the ring had made him realize it was a young man’s game. Still, as has been proven many times, wrestlers struggle to stay out of the ring, and now, during the latest episode of his podcast, he has confirmed he is thinking about wrestling again.

“It’s hard to walk away from it. It really is. It’s so hard. I look at Matt and Jeff, Chris Jericho, Taker, The Rock sneaking into WrestleMania 40. That’s what the business is. We never really retire. Even myself, I’m thinking about having another match at Reality of Wrestling. I’ve been training. I’ve been getting myself together in the gym on a regular basis. I’m on the 30-day ab workout. I’m like, man, I can still do this. How are you gonna tell a man he can’t do it no more? You can’t do it.”

59-year-old Booker T hasn’t wrestled regularly since 2012 but has made sporadic appearances for his own Reality of Wrestling promotion, and it now seems that is where his in-ring future will be. And while there is always a risk of older wrestlers ruining their legacies for wrestling for too long, if he sticks to his own shows, that shouldn’t be an issue, with shows typically drawing less than 20,000 views on YouTube.com.
