During this week’s NXT, it was announced that Cody Rhodes, along with John Cena, Asuka, and Paul Heyman, would be appearing on next week’s episode, which will be going head-to-head with Dynamite. And now, after a fan suggested on X that Rhodes is a hypocrite for appearing on the show he previously bashed, he has responded. In this, he would admit that he always tried to win the ratings battle and state he poured his heart and soul into AEW when there.
As an EVP, Rhodes was instrumental in launching and running AEW and was known for taking shots at WWE during his time with the company. However, due to unknown issues, he opted not to renew his AEW contract and instead returned to WWE, which stunned many at the time. And while his past comments about WWE obviously haven’t aged well, given his spot in the company now, he was part of the competition then, so they can be excused.
