Cody Rhodes’ Injury Is Legitimate & Described As “Pretty Serious”

Cody Rhodes is set to wrestle Seth Rollins inside Hell In A Cell tonight, yet, it appears he may be set to miss some time afterward. This is because the injury which prevented him from competing at a house show on Saturday night has been reported to be a torn pec by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. With the wrestling journalist revealing that it was caused while Rhodes was working out lifting weights earlier in the week.

Cody hurt himself weight training this week. The story going around backstage last night in Champaign, Illinois, is that he tore his pec. I don’t know that 100 percent that is the injury. That’s definitely the story going around. That’s what multiple wrestlers were saying last night, and Cody was there, so he probably told them the presumption everyone had was he’s working Hell in a Cell tonight, and from there, we’ll see. But a torn pec is, you know, that’s a pretty serious injury.Dave Meltzer

The timing of this is awful for Rhodes as it was believed that he would win Money In The Bank next month, setting him up for a future championship match with Roman Reigns later in the year. However, any such plans will seemingly now be off, as a torn pec usually requires surgery, with recovery time often being between 3 and 4 months, depending on how severity. If that is the case, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Rhodes suffer an “injury” tonight at the hands of Rollins inside the Cell to explain his absence.
