CM Punk Opens Up About Current Mental Health Struggle

Had CM Punk not suffered a torn triceps at the Royal Rumble when taking a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre, he would likely have won the men’s Elimination Chamber match at today’s WWE premium live event and be headed to WrestleMania 40. However, the former star is set to spend most of the year on the sidelines, and now, on his Instagram Stories, he has revealed the mental turmoil he has been going through due to missing the event.

“Had a rough day mentally today. My heart and spirit are in Perth. Just a hard day staying positive and nobody wishes I was there performing for the fans more than me. Enjoy the show, appreciate you all.”

45-year-old Punk returned to WWE at the conclusion of November’s Survivor Series, and while he did wrestle Dominik Mysterio twice on house shows, his injury would occur during his first televised match for the company in a decade. Yet, while some talents would see their momentum come to a complete halt after such an injury and fall down the card, WWE has already set the seeds for Punk to feud with McIntyre when he is medically cleared and potentially headline WrestleMania 41.
