When CM Punk returned to wrestling in 2021, fans immediately began speculating it could lead to his wife, AJ Lee, stepping into the ring again herself. And while it was only last month that she confirmed she was still retired, fans have again brought up the topic after Punk shared a photo of himself with Lee at the airport ahead of the event on his Instagram Stories. Of course, a wrestler being accomplished by their significant other is hardly news, but the fact Punks shared it himself and the Rumble match is known for surprises has gotten people talking.
36-year-old Lee hasn’t wrestled since 2015 due to damage to her vertebrae, with her last match being a six-women tag bout on Raw the night after WrestleMania 31. Yet, she has previously revealed that she is physically healed enough to compete again but added that she doesn’t think the challenge is there and instead wants the next generation to have the spotlight
