CM Punk Reveals How He Kept His WWE Return Secret

CM Punk astonished the wrestling world when he returned to WWE at the Survivor Series, as while there had been rumors, nobody knew for sure. And now, during a recent interview with WWE, the former AEW star has revealed that he kept the news from getting out by only telling those closest to him while traveling to the arena that evening.

“Everything happened that day so fast. You should never text and drive, ladies and gentlemen. I was trying to drive to the Allstate Arena and let everybody that deserved to know that was in my orbit know what was about to happen. I’m texting my sisters. Nobody knew. That’s how you get things done in this business. You keep things close to the vest. You don’t leak stuff. That’s when the magic happens.”

AEW fired 45-year-old Punk in September following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In, which was his second such incident in the company. Therefore, it appeared his career in mainstream pro wrestling could be over due to having previously departed WWE on terrible terms almost a decade earlier. Still, with big money to be made, both Punk and WWE put their differences aside and agreed to work together, which so far has been positive for both sides.
