CM Punk Provides Injury Update & Says WWE “Are Protecting Me Against Myself”

News broke on the Monday following the Royal Rumble that CM Punk had suffered a severe injury during the men’s Rumble match. At the time, not much more was known, but subsequently, it was confirmed he had suffered a torn triceps, which is the same injury he sustained in AEW. Yet, while his injury in AEW would sideline him for nine months, Punk has given WWE fans hope he won’t be out so long this time while speaking to Ariel Helwani.

“I feel really, really good. There is part of me that doesn’t want everybody to know. I want to keep a bit of a secret. I feel way better than I think I should. It’s giving me a false sense of security. There is very much the hockey player in my head, ‘You could have made Mania. You could have taped it up.’ They are protecting me against myself,”

Punk returned to WWE at the conclusion of November’s Survivor Series, and while he did wrestle Dominik Mysterio twice on house shows, his participation in the Royal Rumble match was his first televised match for the company in a decade. Sadly for Punk, his injury would rule him out of main eventing in his first-ever WrestleMania. However, with it known he signed a multiyear deal, he will get another opportunity.
