CM Punk Has Former New Japan Star In His Sights As Potential Opponent

While it’s been expected for several weeks, it has now been officially announced that CM Punk is set to resume his AEW career as part of the Collision roster. And now Fightful Select has revealed another name he is interested in sharing the ring with, former New Japan star Jay White.

Word is that CM Punk has taken a liking to the work of Switchblade Jay White, and that he could be an early opponent or program with CM Punk along with Bullet Club Gold.

Hailing from New Zealand, Jay White is considered one of the top performers in the world, having been trained as a Young Lion by New Japan after initially learning the business in the UK. He would go on to be the company’s first grand slam champion, having held their World Heavyweight, Heavyweight, Intercontinental, Never Openweight, and United States Championship. And thanks to New Japan’s willingness to work with other promotions, he has also wrestled for Rev Pro, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling, and AEW.
