FOZZY was set to kick off the next leg of their Save The World tour on September 8 in Columbus. However, the band postponed its summer/fall trek until March 2023 due to an injury to lead singer, Chris Jericho. According to the band, Jericho suffered from a severely bruised larynx stemming from his match with Jon Moxley on the August 10 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Last week, Jericho offered an update on his recovery. The band is scheduled to resume touring in the UK on Nov. 4.
“It’s getting better, man,” he told the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz. “It’s one of those things that I was thinking, like, oh, when the bruising goes away that you’ll just be able to sing again. And it’s, like, no, it’s not like that. If you tear your shoulder, it doesn’t just get better; you’ve gotta do the rehab and start with three-pound weights. So that’s kind of where I’m at.”
“We have a tour that starts in a month from today in England, and I started kind of just recalibrating my singing to where it will be great; it will be great for the tour,” he continued.
“And as I still continue to get stronger, you just have to relearn some things and then it’s gonna come back. So it’s going good. It’s a lot better now than it was two weeks ago, which was a lot better than it was two weeks before that. This was just one of those things; it was the right place at the wrong time or the wrong place at the right time or whatever you wanna say.”
Despite the postponement, FOZZY has stayed in rock news headlines thanks to their hit song “Judas” being featured in the most recent season of the Netflix hit “Cobra Kai.” The show is a martial arts comedy-drama series and an ongoing sequel to the classic “Karate Kid” films of the 1980s.
“Cobra Kai” has been nominated for numerous awards, and the show features plenty of hard rock and heavy metal. The season 5 trailer was set to the Judas Priest classic “You Got Another Thing Coming.” Season 3 of the show even included a cameo from Dee Snider. Other songs in the series so far include “Lay It Down” (Ratt), “Kickstart My Heart” (Motley Crue), “Here I Go Again” (Whitesnake), “We’re Not Gonna Take It” (Twisted Sister), “The Kids Are Back” (Twisted Sister), “I Want It All” (Queen), “I Wanna Be Somebody” (W.A.S.P.), “Take It On The Run” (REO Speedwagon), “Nothing But A Good Time” (Poison), “Round and Round” (Ratt), among many others.
FOZZY released their latest album, “Boombox,” last May. The album features Top 20 Mainstream Rock single “I Still Burn.” It also spawned the Top 10 singles “Nowhere To Run” and “Sane.”
