Carlito returned to WWE during the Royal Rumble match last month and looked to be in the best shape of his life. He’d last a respectable 8:26 minutes, and the next night he wrestled his first match on Raw in more than a decade when teaming with Jeff Hardy to defeat Elias and Jaxson Ryker. Many fans believed it was a foregone conclusion that he would soon rejoin WWE full-time, considering how good he looked both physically and in the ring.
However, it now appears WWE hasn’t made him an offer, as speaking to Joe Lowry, Carlito would say, “right now, I’m on my own. I’m just open to whatever comes my way.” He’d also answer when asked about AEW, “I’m open to whatever man. Whatever great idea is out there, I’m willing to listen and see if I fit in there somehow.”
The former Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion hasn’t worked for a major promotion since departing WWE back in 2010. He’d refuse to attend rehab, following a violation of WWE’s Wellness Violation, instead worked for his father’s promotion in Puerto Rico and wrestling on independent shows.
