It’s been speculated that Brock Lesnar’s retirement from the ring is imminent, with the two-night SummerSlam in Minneapolis later this year a possible venue for his final match. However, it appears WWE may have a problem delivering big matches with Oba Femi and Gunther before then, as the Self Made Pro YouTube channel reports that Lesnar and Paul Heyman have pushed for him to avoid losing any matches before his retirement. This suggests Lesnar will win his open challenge match at WrestleMania, and therefore won’t be against either man.

So here’s the problem. They know that the audience wants Oba. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman have essentially communicated to WWE and creative that Brock should not lose until his retirement. That puts WWE in a tough spot because Triple H would like to book Gunther vs. Brock and Oba vs. Brock at some point. But if those matches happen, Brock would likely lose in both. So it creates a real dilemma.– Self Made Pro

48-year-old Lesnar made a shocking return to WWE at SummerSlam 2025, interrupting John Cena’s post-match farewell by delivering an F5 after Cena lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. This marked his first appearance in nearly two years, saw him reunite with Heyman, and dominate Cena in a quick squash match at Wrestlepalooza. From there, he helped his team win the WarGames match at Survivor Series in November, and earlier this year, he entered the Royal Rumble but was eliminated without establishing a match for WrestleMania 42.
