During a just-released interview on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Johnny TV, also known as John Morrison, expressed feeling “underutilized” in AEW. The 46-year-old, who has been with AEW since 2023, described AEW’s top talents as being on an “island” with Tony Khan, noting he doesn’t feel included. However, he seems to understand it’s part of the business, with television spots limited.
“But for me right now, in AEW, I feel underutilized. Can’t blame anyone, that’s just how wrestling promotions work. There’s only enough TV time for a certain number of people. Those people at AEW, we’ve coined the term ‘the island.’ Those people are on the island, so to speak. And I don’t feel like I’m on the island with Tony or AEW right now.” – Johnny TV
Johnny TV won WWE Tough Enough and went on to debut as Johnny Nitro in WWE before forming MNM with Joey Mercury for multiple WWE Tag Team Championships. As John Morrison captured three WWE Intercontinental Championships and the ECW World Championship, and, post-WWE, he became a world champion in Impact Wrestling, where he was renamed Johnny Impact. Yet, despite currently being All Elite, he has most recently been wrestling in Mexico for CMLL, where he is pushed as a star, and just lost a hair vs. hair match to Angel de Oro.
