Within hours of Brian Kendrick’s WWE release being reported, it was advertised by AEW that they’d booked him to wrestle Jon Moxley on Dynamite. However, that appearance was canceled by Tony Khan at the last minute after Twitter users shared conspiracy theory videos from 2011 and 2013 featuring the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. In the clips, Kendrick would discuss bizarre and upsetting views regarding the Holocaust, Sandy Hook, and even claim reptilians were seeking eyeballs after an earthquake in Haiti.
Following the uproar on social media, Kendrick took to Twitter himself and apologized for what he had previously said and stressed that they were not his current beliefs. Now in an interview with Duke Loves Rasslin, he has spoken in more detail for the first time, saying back then, he was trying to create buzz and get bookings and that he was embarrassed and sorry for making light of tragedies.
Kendrick hasn’t wrestled since his WWE release, and since the controversy ensued, it isn’t known whether he has been offered any bookings. Still, considering actual criminals have resumed their careers, it seems unlikely he won’t wrestle again. However, with cancel culture now being such a big part of life, it is likely the promotions willing to book him in the immediate future will be few and far between regardless of his apology.
