WWE unexpectantly released bray Wyatt on July 31, 2021, which was just eight days before he was meant to be returning to television. The official reason for him being cut was budgetary cuts, but it has been strongly speculated that it was due to him being uncooperative when it came to agreeing to what he felt was bad creative. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting his return to the ring; however, he has instead been filming a yet unannounced movie.
Now, during an appearance on Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has given more insight into what is also preventing a return. Revealing that the former WWE Champion was making $4 million a year during the height of his popularity and is quoting a really high price to anyone who wants to employ him.
Wyatt has stated on social media recently that he can’t imagine never wrestling again. Yet, given his asking price, it seems only WWE or AEW could afford to offer him a contract at present. Nevertheless, having earned so much money during his WWE run, which saw him become the company’s top merchandise seller, he doesn’t need to wrestle and can focus on movie projects for the foreseeable future.
