Bobby Fish Reveals The Reason He Departed AEW

Bobby Fish is currently a free agent, having departed AEW earlier this year. And now, while speaking on The Wrestling Perspective, he has revealed why he left the promotion, noting he only had a one-year deal and wasn’t happy with his pay. Seemingly indicating he rushed into signing his first deal to get security, he blew it for himself from a negotiation standpoint.

We just couldn’t agree on numbers. Numbers when, so so after I got released, literally right around the corner of that, I had some family stuff that came up that was very, you know just uh life stuff. Life happens, right? And so at that time, when the AEW option came to be, I wasn’t in a great headspace.

And had a new house, we were planning a wedding. And you know, the idea of another contract was safe, and that provided a certain amount of security. So probably jumped the gun or, you know, I don’t know how to phrase it. But I made sure that it was only a year. I did not want to do any more than a year for the numbers that we were talking.

While aged 46, Fish is showing no signs of slowing down, and post-AEW, he has worked for Impact Wrestling and NJPW Strong. However, most notably, he made his boxing debut a month ago when he faced Boateng Prempeh on the preliminary undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs. Deji at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. With Fish defeating his opponent by second-round stoppage after seemingly attempting a wrestling maneuver earlier in the bout.
