Bobby Fish Addresses CM Punk Three-Count Controversy

During the October 27, 2021, episode of Dynamite, Bobby Fish and CM Punk had an excellent 13-minute television match. Yet, it wasn’t the in-ring work that was the hot topic of conversation afterward, but the fact that Fish kicked out right on the count of three despite having taken Punk’s GTS finisher.

This clearly shocked Punk, who was almost certainly frustrated by what appeared to be Fish trying to make himself look good in defeat. However, on his new YouTube channel, the 49-year-old has addressed this, placing the blame on Punk for giving him an “iggy,” which led him to think he potentially wanted to alter the finish.

“In the moment of the pin, he squeezed my arm or my leg, to be honest, it’s all this time ago, I don’t remember exactly what it was, but it’s what we call in the industry the office or the iggy. And you generally do it to get someone’s attention … The iggy that I got in that moment was as if he was trying to get my attention. I don’t know what it was or why it was, but in that split second, I had an opportunity to, for lack of a better term, sh*t or get off the pot.”Bobby Fish

While it appears that Fish’s run in the big leagues is over, having parted ways with WWE, AEW, and TNA in recent years, he still regularly wrestles, with MLW being his current home promotion. Yet at present, he appears to be sidelined, having disclosed on Instagram that he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and doesn’t have health insurance to assist him. Whether this will keep him out of the ring for long is unknown, but surgery is sometimes required for the most serious types of this injury.
