Bloodgood Singer & Co-Founder Les Carlsen Releases Debut Solo Album

Les Carlsen, lead singer and co-founder of Christian heavy metal legends Bloodgood, has released his debut solo album, “He’s Coming.”

“This solo project has been a labor of love for many months and some of the songs have been in the works for years,” Carlsen wrote on social media.

“The music captures so many of my emotions. Having total artistic control has enabled me to stretch out and take risks. My goal is still to point people to and bring glory to Jesus. Hoping this is just the beginning of a whole new chapter in my music ministry.

Louder Than The Music writes of Carlsen: “His songs such as, ‘Crucify’, ‘Messiah’, and ‘Lamb of God’ have reached 1000’s of people with the gospel message and remain classics in the Christian Rock genre to this day. Les has a legendary reputation for hitting and holding high soaring notes, for dramatic interpretations of the lyrics, and for the raspy tone that makes his voice so unique. He carries on his passion for music and calling for ministry in this solo venture.”

Carlsen has also released a lyric video for the title track. The album can be streamed or downloaded digitally or purchased via LesCarlsenMusic.com.

Bloodgood formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington and became one of the biggest Christian metal bands in existence. They are credited with being a vital stepping stone towards what would become a massively successful genre in Christian rock.

Sadly, earlier this year, co-founding Bloodgood bassist Michael Bloodgood passed away.

“After a gallant fight that began with a severe hemorrhagic stroke in February 2022 he’s gone home to be with our Heavenly Father,” read a post from the band. “We’ll cherish Michael’s generous spirit, off-beat sense of humor, and musical soul. His devotion to the Lord and sharing of the Gospel through his ministry as a pastor and musician touched countless lives.”

Chris Jericho paid tribute Michael Bloodgood shortly after his passing on Talk Is Jericho.
