Becky Lynch had a record-breaking run as Raw Women’s Champion, holding the belt for 373 days (or 398 days if you go by WWE’s dates). She never lost the title in the ring; instead, she relinquished it on the May 11 episode of Raw due to her real-life pregnancy. Asuka would then be announced as the new champion as it was revealed that the previous night’s Money in the Bank ladder match was actually for the championship.
Things were almost very different, as Lynch confirmed in a chat with Nikki and Brie on the latest episode of The Bellas Podcast she had proposed losing the title to Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36 which was before she knew she was pregnant.
Had WWE gone along with Lynch’s idea, Baszler probably wouldn’t be sat on the sidelines right now. It’s believed Baszler’s Raw absence is not injury-related, but because Vince McMahon has soured on the former NXT champion, and her previous main roster push was due to support from Paul Heyman who is no longer in creative.
