Baron Corbin Reveals He Received Death Threats Following Controversial Spot

Back in 2019, Baron Corbin worked a program with Seth Rollins, which included an Extreme Rules mixed tag match also featuring Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans. During this hard-hitting match, Corbin would shock wrestling fans when he hit Lynch with his End of Days finisher. And now, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, he has revealed he actually received death threats on social media following this controversial spot. However, rather than be worried by this, Corbin described it as “awesome.

“It was just like crazy, and like the death threats after, all worth it. Totally worth it. Like my Instagram messages and Twitter and all of those things, people were like, ‘Dude, I’m gonna stab you the next time I see you for what you did to Becky.’ People buy into what we do. That’s the art of what we do can suspend disbelief. Can we make people think what we’re doing is 100% real, and then people bought into that moment? They’re like, ‘A grown man put his hands on a woman. I want to fight that guy.’ It invoked this rage in people, and it was awesome.”

39-year-old Corbin returned to NXT this past May and is in the process of having his career rebooted following several lackluster years on the main roster. This has so far seen him wrestle the likes of Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, and Gable Steveson in fresh matchups and, in the process, regain the momentum he previously lost following multiple main roster gimmick changes.
