Backstage Update On Austin Theory Following Scary SmackDown Bump

This past Friday’s episode of SmackDown saw a scary moment when Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes appeared to suffer head injuries after a spot went wrong. This occurred when Theory attempted an Avalanche Flat Liner on Hayes but landed awkwardly, and the pair clashed heads. The referee would immediately call for the bell, and both wrestlers were checked on, with the match abruptly finished.

Subsequently, WWE would report on social media that despite suffering bruises, both men would be okay. However, it has now been reported by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio that Theory is now in the medical protocol, which means he cannot wrestle again until passing an ImPACT test and is cleared by a doctor.

26-year-old Theory is one of WWE’s brightest young stars and has already shared a ring with WWE legends like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Yet arguably, his most memorable career moment so far came back in September 2023 when he was featured in a segment with Pat McAfee and The Rock in which he received a People’s Elbow.
