LA Knight defeated Seth Rollins during Saturday Night’s Main Event, leaving fans shocked, given that “The Visionary” is currently being booked as one of WWE’s biggest stars. Yet, it wasn’t WWE suddenly deciding to push the former TNA Champion that led to his victory, but the fact that Rollins landed awkwardly during a springboard moonsault and injured his knee.
And while many fans watching at home had hoped it was all part of an elaborate storyline, Fightful Select has now reported that the belief is Rollins’ knee injury is totally legitimate, and therefore, an audible was called for Knight to go over.
Rollins is the current holder of the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase, and rumors circulated before Saturday Night’s Main Event that he was going to cash in on Gunther following his match with Goldberg later in the show. However, if that was ever the plan, WWE had no other option but to make a last-minute change, with Rollins now potentially facing months on the sidelines. However, with the 39-year-old having almost 11 months left to cash in, there is a good chance he will be able to return with the contract still valid.
