If you hadn’t read the spoilers before the Royal Rumble, current TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace appearing in the women’s Rumble match would have come as a massive surprise. And now Fightful Select has reported on how this came together, revealing that WWE reached out to TNA last weekend and that Grace would subsequently fly to Florida for a medical before participating in rehearsals on Thursday.
“Fightful had heard that WWE reached out to outside companies about potential Royal Rumble surprises entrants. We’re told that WWE contacted TNA this past weekend to inquire, and everything went through TNA. Grace is still signed with TNA. We’re told that Grace had a physical and blood work on Monday, then flew to Florida Thursday to participate in the Royal Rumble rehearsals.”
Fightful SelectThroughout much of WWE’s history, the company has been reluctant to work with those they would deem rivals. However, in more recent years, this stance has softened, with Shinsuke Nakamura competing in the Great Muta’s retirement match for NOAH last year, and earlier this month, NXT’s Charlie Dempsey wrestled for All Japan. Therefore, given Grace would take to social media platform X after the Royal Rumble to say, “Thank you, @WWE Universe. This won’t be the last you’ll see of @ThisIsTNA,” it now appears an ongoing relationship is planned.
