Backstage News On Controversial Blood Spot At Full Gear

Saturday night’s Full Gear PPV was a noteworthy event, with the gruesome Texas Death match between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page stealing the show. Yet, in some people’s opinion, when Page pulled a heavily bleeding Stickland towards him, letting the former WWE performer’s blood trickle into his mouth and then spitting it out, went too far. And while it was undoubtedly contentious it has now been reported by Fightful Select that the spot was planned in advance by both men and was approved by an unnamed producer.

Even if you didn’t watch Full Gear, you likely already knew about this spot, as mainstream news outlets picked it up after TMZ covered it. However, whether this is a good thing for AEW to be known for really depends on your take on blood in wrestling, as while some fans online found the spot cool compared to WWE’s PG content, others were outright revolted and have vowed to stop watching Tony Khan’s promotion in the future.
