AEW currently has several stars, including Chris Jericho, Adam Cole, Dr. Britt Baker, Samoa Joe, Jamie Hayter, and Will Ospreay, absent from television for various reasons. And now, adding to these notable absences, Fightful Select has reported that Kenny Omega is also set for a spell on the sidelines. Precisely how much time this will see the much-loved Canadian miss remains unclear, although Omega recently revealed that he finds wrestling matches draining following his diverticulitis struggles.
When 41-year-old Omega was first diagnosed with diverticulitis in 2023, not only was his in-ring future at risk, but also his life. Thankfully, the surgery that removed about 20 inches worth of intestines and colon would successfully cure him, and has allowed the former New Japan star to return to the ring. Still, fans need to enjoy Omega while they still can, given he disclosed on Wrestling Observer Radio that there “isn’t much left” regarding his career.
