At Wrestle Kingdom 20, Andrade El Idolo made his high-profile New Japan return, working a multi-man tag match. And while fans were happy to see him back in the ring in such a high-profile contest following his recent contract drama, the big talking point has been that he appears to be officially All Elite again. This was signaled by his entrance to his former AEW theme music and by his being announced as representing the promotion. Whether he will return to AEW television in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but it appears likely.
36-year-old Andrade is a third-generation Mexican wrestler who debuted in 2003, rose to fame in CMLL as La Sombra, won multiple titles, founded Los Ingobernables, and captured NJPW’s IWGP Intercontinental Championship in 2013. Subsequently, he joined WWE in 2015, left for AEW in 2021, and then returned to WWE in 2024, where it was thought he’d have a long run. However, he was unexpectedly fired in 2025, and although he returned to AEW almost immediately, a year-long non-compete clause, since waived, prevented him from signing a contract.
