AEW’s Kris Statlander Confirms She Requires Knee Surgery

Word spread on social media on Sunday that Kris Statlander had suffered a knee injury during her tag match on last Wednesday’s Dynamite. Shortly after the news broke, she would go on to confirm it was correct, and the severity of her injury on Twitter.

Since the news is out. I told you I’d dive on Kip again and dammit I did. But in doing so, I ended up with a high grade tear in my ACL. Yes I need surgery. Yes I’ll be out of the ring for a while. I’ll do my best to still show up on your TVs as much as I can. @callmekrisstat | Kris Statlander

Based on the tweet, it appears it occurred when she went for a suicide dive on Kip Sabian, who was accompanying Penelope Ford, and she landed on her knee. This type of injury typically takes athletes 8-12 months to recover from, which is a big blow for AEW, where she has already become an integral part of the women’s division since signing with the promotion last December.
