WWE decided to kick off its business relationship with ESPN in a big way, with the returns of both Brock Lesnar and AJ Lee to the ring. However, despite the show generating plenty of buzz, the chosen name Wrestlepalooza has been mocked by many online, with even CM Punk calling it “a ridiculous name” during an interview.
And now AEW’s Will Ospreay has taken to his Instagram story to mock the name himself, posting a photograph of his Scoop-apalooza ice cream tub with the comment “what a shit name” written in small text.
This isn’t the first time a wrestling show has used this name, as ECW ran Wrestlepalooza shows in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2000. Still, only the 98 version would be a pay-per-view, being headlined by Shane Douglas defending the ECW Championship against Al Snow. Still, reviews for the show were mostly unfavorable, with some critics going as far as to call it one of the worst ECW PPVs ever.
