It was recently revealed that Swerve Strickland suffered a torn meniscus back in 2019 while wrestling for WWE and has been working on it ever since. And while it certainly wasn’t noticeable from his in-ring performances, it appears he has decided now is the time to get surgery, as after being written off AEW television at Forbidden Door, he has shared a photograph via Instagram showing his leg bandaged.

How long Strickland will be sidelined for is currently unknown, with the recovery time following this type of operation dependent on multiple factors. The most optimistic predictions would likely see Swerve out for three months, making it doubtful he’ll wrestle again this year. Still, it opens the door for someone else on the roster to step up, which could even benefit AEW in the long term.
