AEW’s Chuck Taylor hasn’t wrestled since April 2024, as after a memorable Parking Lot Brawl loss to Trent Beretta, he revealed he was likely retired due to severe ankle osteonecrosis. And now, indicating a miraculous return to the ring is even less likely, the 39-year-old has disclosed on Instagram that he recently underwent neck surgery, sharing multiple photos, along with the witty caption “Got my neck cut off.“
Taylor, whose real name is Dustin Howard, debuted in 2002 and quickly gained experience on the independent scene, notably excelling in CHIKARA and becoming a cult favorite. Therefore, when Tony Khan needed talented but not well-known wrestlers to launch AEW, he hired the “Kentucky Gentleman,” along with his Best Friends stablemates Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy. Yet it appears that Taylor’s future is now behind the scenes in a coaching role, which is unfortunate, especially given his age.
