Legendary rockers AC/DC wrapped up a European tour back in August, and the successful run has led to wide speculation that the band is soon to announce other dates around the globe and specifically in North America. A rumor that started to circulate over the weekend was the band would soon announce dates, but the new shows would be with Guns ’N’ Roses singer Axl Rose.
Rose filled in for the back half of the band’s “Rock or Bust” tour back in 2016 when singer Brian Johnson had to step away because of hearing issues.
The latest rumor started when rock podcaster Mitch Lafon shared a graphic on X of an article that featured a quote from a show he did years back with former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach.
Bach told Lafon at the time that he was jealous of Axl Rose landing the temporary AC/DC gig. Several online outlets treated Lafon’s post as current news, which the podcaster quickly refuted. “For those that missed it…” he wrote. “I used this 2016 graphic while talking about ACDC yesterday SOLELY because it was a real newspaper article that had name checked me. It has ZERO to do with any current 2024 reality…I’ve now seen online sites quoting it as current news. Oh my.”
Lafon did go on to say that he has heard the band is soon to announce tour dates for as early as next April/May, but he could not yet confirm the news. Johnson re-joined the group for their “Power Up” album in 2020 and also was back fronting the band on their recent European tour.
