Bobby Horne, who is best known to 90s wrestling fans as Mo from Men On A Mission, has been struggling with his health for many years, requiring both a kidney and liver transplant in the past. And now, in more unfortunate news, former WWE Women’s Champion Leilani Kai has disclosed on Facebook that Horne, who she considers a close friend, has again been hospitalized, this time due to a blood infection and pneumonia.
Horne broke into the wrestling business in 1991 alongside Nelson Frazier, who would later become known as Mabel and Viscera. Due to their enormous size, they caught the eye of Vince McMahon, who introduced them in 1993 as the fun-loving rappers Men On A Mission, alongside a manager named Oscar. The team would go on to win the WWE Tag Team Championships from The Quebecers on a house show in the UK. However, it was long rumored that the title change was a botch due to Pierre Ouellet being unable to kick out in time with a near-500-pound Mabel on top of him. Giving credence to this was that MOM would drop the titles back just two days later.
Regardless of whether the title change was a mistake or not, it was still acknowledged on television. Subsequently, Mabel received a massive push by winning the King of the Ring tournament in 1995, which led to Mo becoming a manager named “Sir Mo.” Still, the following year, both men would depart WWE, and Mo has since worked the independent circuit, even opening his own promotion, SOAR Championship Wrestling, back in 2019.
