83-Year-Old WWE Hall Of Famer Announces Final Match

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Valiant, affectionately known as “The Boogie Woogie Man,” has announced via a press release that he will wrestle one final match at the remarkable age of 83. Dubbed “Boogie’s Last Dance,” the bout is scheduled for April 25 in Lancaster, South Carolina, for NAWA Championship Wrestling. As of writing, his opponent has not yet been announced, but some fans have jokingly suggested his former Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling rival and occasional tag partner, Ric Flair, might have another match in him.

Yes, this will be my final dance. I’ve retired before, but this is truly my last dance. I’m honored to hang up my boots after 62 years of wrestling pro. I had over 15,000 matches and drove 6 million miles on U.S. highways, plus flying getting to those matches.– Jimmy Valiant

Other notable examples of similar longevity in wrestling include Japan’s Great Kojika, who remains active in his mid-80s, with matches as recent as April 2025, and American legend Dory Funk Jr., who competed at age 83 in 2024. Additionally, Britain’s Kendo Nagasaki stepped into the ring at 84 in late 2025. Still, the late Mae Young holds the overall record at 87 years and 248 days in 2010, showing that passion and resilience can keep wrestling legends performing well into their golden years.
