Last year it was reported by Fightful Select that WWE were looking at re-signing Akam and Rezar, collectively known as the Authors of Pain. With it even noted that their former on screen manager Paul Ellering was handling negotiations for them. Yet, with the duo not returning to television it seemed no agreement was reached. However, Fightful Select has now shared a follow-up to their initial report, and are informing their subscribers that according to their sources the duo did in fact secretly re-sign last year, with WWE just holding off their reintroduction.
The duo, who haven’t wrestled since 2020, formed as a tag team in NXT in 2016 and won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, NXT Tag Team Championship, and WWE Raw Tag Team Championship during their initial WWE run. They had even become a featured act on Raw as Seth Rollins enforcers, however, they were abruptly taken off television once Rezar suffered a bicep injury.
