It’s hard to imagine WWE out of the control of the McMcMahon family. Still, there has been speculation it could happen since 2016. During an investors call that year, McMahon said, “we’re business people, so it’s not a question of if the right deal came along, it’s one of those things where if it’s a deal you couldn’t refuse, we’re listening. “Since, then there has been speculation about FOX, Disney, and even the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman purchasing the company.
Now, in a recent interview, current WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan was asked about the present possibility, following WWE’s huge content licensing agreement with NBCUniversal for their Peacock streaming service.
Nick Khan has previously been referred to as a deal maker, and WWE paid big money to recruit him. He received a $5 million sign-on bonus on top of his base salary of $1.2 million per year. He is also set to earn a bonus of $1.9 million if targets are met, and considering he negotiated the $1 billion Peacock deal, it’s almost certain he smashed the target. Some observers said Khan had brought into eventually negotiate a sale of WWE. However, if his comments are to be taken at face value, that appears to be false.
