At last night’s The Horror Story At Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the much-maligned “Eye for an Eye” match between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins took place. Rollins ended up victorious after driving Mysterio’s right eye into the corner of the steel steps. Mysterio’s eye appeared to pop out of its socket, but the audience could hardly see the injury, but Rollins would vomit, seeming to signify how gruesome it looked.
Following the match, WWE shared a kayfabe update on WWE.com and their social media on Mysterio’s condition with the below update:
Mysterio is currently working for WWE without a contract, and as of last night hadn’t agreed on a new deal, so potentially this could have been his final appearance for WWE. However, this statement does leave open the possibility of Mysterio returning with his eyesight if he does choose to re-sign.
