WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Velveteen Dream Contacted Him For Advice

Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark Jr, should have become a big star in WWE when he moved from NXT to the main roster. However, he would never get the opportunity after troubling allegations regarding inappropriate messages to children emerged. WWE would say they found no evidence of any wrongdoing. Still, fans wouldn’t forget, with #FireVelveteenDream becoming a regularly trending topic, and he was subsequently released, and it appeared his career was over.

Yet, it now appears he still holds out hope of resuming his pro wrestling career, as after sharing an apology video on Instagram last week, it has now been revealed by Booker T that he reached out to him. The WWE Hall of Famer disclosed this during a recent episode of his popular podcast, although he noted the shamed star never followed up with him.

“I talked to Patrick Clark about three months ago. He reached out to me, he was trying to figure maybe a way to get back into the business. I told him to give me a call, and I don’t know, something happened, I don’t know what happened, I hadn’t talked to him. But I was wondering that myself. I wonder if this kid could get back in the business.

I knew Patrick Clark before he was on Tough Enough. I knew him as a kid. Then when he got on Tough Enough, I was like, man, this kid has got so much talent. Then when he got to NXT and created that Velveteen Dream character and gimmick, I was like, man, this is money. This is gold. This thing could go a long time for years. It was a throwback like Macho Man Savage, something like that. It was kind of like a throwback gimmick that he made work. But I don’t know, man. I wonder if there’s a way back in the business for him. But I tell you, it’s gonna be hard.”

Clark did previously attempt to make a comeback to the ring, but that was short-lived, as the first indie promotion to book him announced within two hours that he was off the show due to the adverse reaction. This would seemingly indicate that his mainstream wrestling career is over regardless of how many apologies he makes, although stranger things have happened in the business.
