Concerning Update On Wheeler Yuta’s AEW Absence

Wheeler Yuta is one of AEW’s breakout stars, having started out on their now-defunct YouTube shows. However, despite being ROH Pure Champion, he hasn’t wrestled for four months. And now it has been reported by Fightful Select that his absence is due to having suffered a concussion, with it worryingly noted he is still dealing with symptoms, leaving his return to the ring unclear.

“Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp is told that Yuta has been dealing with concussion symptoms for months. As of now we haven’t learned a timetable for his potential return. When we last asked about Yuta in March, the hope was that the injury would not sideline him long. However, that hasn’t been the case.”

27-year-old Wheeler, real name Paul Gruber, broke into the business in 2014 and notably wrestled for CZW and MLW before debuting for ROH. From there, he began working for AEW and became part of the Best Friends stable, filling in for Trent Beretta, who was injured at the time. Still, his career reached a new level when, after wrestling Bryan Danielson, he joined the Blackpool Combat Club and became a prominently featured performer on television.
